MLB2K11 - Exhibition Mode all the time?

OK, so whats up with MLB2k11 on WII. Is every freaking game going to be in Exhibition mode? I started a season profile, but every game still says "Exhibition" what am I doing wrong? And what is up with the ******* shoe string, and Willie Mays catches from the defense...I can see some basket catches or one handed but up over the wall...about every game... ******* cmon... this **** is pissing me off...
