How does Jim Edmonds rate defensively as a centerfielder ...?

At Mr. Bravo - some of the guys you named weren't even center fielders. Clemente, for example, started 45 games in CF in his career. He started 2237 in right. I think Edmonds is easily the best defensive center fielder of the past 20 years. Griffey Jr., Beltran, and some others have been very good and in some cases faster than Edmonds, but nobody gets the consistently great reads and jumps that Edmonds did. That let him play shallow and still get to the balls to the track or wall. I haven't been alive nearly long enough to make an argument for anybody as the best defensive centerfielder of all time. Almost nobody has. That being said, I think Edmonds is in the upper echelon and is definitely a person who can be mentioned in the same category as the guys in your question.
